In celebration of spring, Steve Duross and James Langel of the infamous Philly soap shop, Duross & Langel, planned a tea themed soap making party. The tea infused spring soaps included, White Tea with Acai, White Tea with Peony and Green Tea with Coconut and Lime.
Considering that I missed last year’s soapy soiree, I made my way out into the pouring rain for a novel tea experience. As I hustled into the shop to escape the wet weather, wondrous aromas transformed my dampened attitude into a sunny disposition. I walked upstairs into the demo kitchen and the fabulous owners greeted me with a variety of iced teas (including the delicious orange pekoe blended with lemonade) and sweets to nibble on throughout the afternoon hours.
As we sipped the iced tea treats, Steve educated guests about the soap making process while creating the tea soaps on the stove and counter. I was thrilled to see the pure white soap bases transformed into vibrant works of art when he added bits of colorful tea infused soap. The aroma of the white peony tea reminded me that the warm rain would nourish nature and welcome floral scents in the spring air.
When the clock struck 2 and the soap party came to an end, I made my down into the shop to quickly come face-to-face with a bottle of their green tea body wash (a treat to remind myself of this fabulous afternoon & to hold me over until I return for a new D&L tea fix--green tea coconut & lime soap is definitely next in line).
I walked back out into rain, but the gray sky didn't seem to bother me as I ventured home and reflected on a tea experience to add to my list.
